Blog Marketing Tips The Balance

It shouldn't be a secret anymore that blog marketing is more powerful than static site marketing.

We have tested both models heavily in 2006 and found that our rankings come far easier with a blog as our content management system as opposed to any other form of web publishing.

Below are some tips to make sure you are taking advantage of all there is to offer in the Web 2.0 world of traffic, links, and easy search engine listings.

1. Tag your posts. If you are using Wordpress (and you should be) use a plugin called Ultimate Tag Warrior to tag posts and put together keyword dense archives. You can find this plugin at wp-plugins.net.

2. Syndicate with RSS. Not just the feed that comes with your blog, but with custom feeds that specifically isolate keyword groups you develop content for regularly. The best tool for this is PheedPress, available from Content Desk.

3. Get Involved! Trackbacks and comment links are alive and well, despite reports to the contrary. Bloggers will grant your trackbacks and comments when they are on topic and useful. These are the easiest links available on the web today.

4. Social Bookmarking. Public lists of bookmarks are easy spider food and will get you more traffic the more you use social bookmarking. Your entire site should be bookmarked somewhere, and preferably in all the major bookmarking engines.

5. Get Dugg. Digg.com and other social information networks take "stories" from sites that post them. Then they are ranked by members. You are either in or you're out. Dugg or buried.

6. Myspace Networking. There are social networks popping up all over the place that are like Myspace. One notable network is called MyWebTop.com and it is specifically for online business owners to network and get valuable links back to their sites.

7. Article Syndication. Not the 2005 version. In 2007, the best results for article syndication will be for people who adhere to the holy grail of content syndication: Topical, Relevant, Well-Written Content!

Most of the above will work for old-style sites, like sites written in static html. But not nearly as well as when you publish on a blog platform.

Blogging doesn't mean pouring out your feelings anymore. It is serious business and the platform itself can be used for anything where information needs to be updated regularly.

Properly marketing your blog site depends first and foremost on what you have to say. If it is boring, lame, or focused too much on blatant advertising of products and services, you will get slammed with extremely poor results.

The secret is the content. Very good content will dominate a niche. The platform you put it on will dictate how well it dominates. And how regularly you perform the tasks above will dictate how long you dominate.

4 Tips To Build Traffic For Your Blog

Bloggers blog. That’s what they do. A blog is short for ‘weblog’ and it’s really an online journal that can be updated easily and frequently without any knowledge of HTML code.

Traditionally, article marketing has been used by authors who are promoting their books or information products. Lately, I’ve noticed a growing trend of bloggers using article marketing to grow the traffic to their blog and you should too.

Three reasons why it makes sense for bloggers to engage in article marketing:

1) You’ve already got a lot of content produced in each of your blog posts. 200 words should be your floor for each article that you produce. In some cases, you already have enough words per post to create 10-50 articles instantly. If you don’t, then stitch posts together of a similar theme until you have 200+ word articles to put into article marketing distribution.

2) A blogger has the same traffic building problems that any typical website has, and therefore article marketing can help your blog in the same ways it can help a non-blog website. Benefits include qualified traffic coming to your site year round, quality backlinks being built without any messy recip-linking campaigns, and you’re expanding your reach to other experts that might not otherwise have found your blog.

3) Bloggers by nature are more Internet savvy than your typical author. With this said, most bloggers already understand how to create revenue with pay per click (PPC) advertising programs. As such, you already know how to produce keyword intelligent titles for their articles. This guarantees maximum traffic impact for each of your articles.

If you are already a blogger and are new to article marketing, here’s how you get started:

1) Produce a cache of 10-25+ articles from your existing blog content.

2) Submit them to the major article directories and any that are niche-relevant to your field of expertise. You may also wish to submit them to ezine publishers directly from your niche.

3) Rinse and repeat until you have 250-1,000+ articles in distribution this year. Hire a college student or editor if you don’t have time to get this strategy into practice as it’ll be well worth it.

4) Watch your traffic counter slowly rise, day by day as your articles work hard for you delivering qualified traffic to your website year round.

Article Marketing as a strategy will not break your traffic counter on your first month of investing in this strategy…but, I guarantee if you engage in this strategy, your blog will grow in traffic and popularity beyond the traffic you were already creating by simply blogging. You knows, you might even increase your sales, land a new job, or improve your rank in the search engines as a side-benefit from your article marketing strategy.

Promoting a Website Using Blog Advertising

Blog advertising is a major source of traffic to any website that sells products or services. Even affiliate marketing techniques benefit from Blog advertising. The use of Blogs for personal and business matters is commonplace and is used by many companies to promote their business and improve traffic to their business sites easily online. There are some simple ways to promote a website through blog advertising that make it seem like a business is getting a free ticket to pure profit.

Personal or Business Blogging

Taking the course of creating a blog in a specific format may increase traffic to a business in different ways. To take the mode of an individual to promote products, a person could simply talk about a certain product and how it has helped them to solve an everyday problem. If they are promoting electronics or devices, it may benefit them to provide specifications on the product about hardware or software that is included and what the devices are capable of.

Providing a small testimonial on how well the product works is also recommended so that subscribers and readers of the Blog will feel like they are being told the truth about the product. It also helps to advertise products that do not work well and provide an honest review on the performance to allow variety on the Blog posts. If users only hear about how every product being promoted is the best, they may begin to feel the credibility of the Blog should be questioned.

To promote a business through a Blog network, a business could take several approaches. They can advertise their products plainly, but Blog readers genuinely hate reading ads that are not in a specific format. The other options for a business to promote traffic to their websites are through a company update Blog.

This is where a business offers information pertaining to products and services that are offered but not advertising them heavily. This leads more true to the Blogging style of most Bloggers throughout the internet. Readers enjoy learning about what a company has accomplished and how the company can help them personally.

Also providing information about special events, giveaways and other insider information makes the readers come back for more. Keeping the consumers informed about how the company provides to the community is also advised, as it helps them to believe that their money spent is used towards good causes.

Receiving Traffic through Paid Blog Advertising

Many websites offer the possibility of contracting independent Blog writers to promote your products, services or business. Users with large amounts of subscribers and unique daily view are highly in demand for their advertising potential and may have higher costs for their Blogging promotional advertising rates. Finding people to proposition for Blog advertising is also easy through personal research through online search directories.

Finding a Blog with high traffic is easy when recruiting writers to promote your business website, products or services. Doing a simple search on a major web directory search engine with the search term Blog along in the search string with the type of business, services or products your company offers. The top results will often give you insights into which sites have the most traffic and well constructed sites to draw in potential customers and consumers of your product or service.

Negotiating costs for advertising independently is something that should be explored. You can find out the details about the contracted advertising terms and what can and cannot be advertised on the specific blog.

Many people are willing to offer their Blog traffic as potential advertising for your company or business for the right price. Eventually, you may build strong business contacts with your Blog advertisers. They may provide you with exceptional amounts of unique traffic by promoting your products and services to their many subscribers and readers.

Finding Resources to Create Self Promotion

Many people use their Blog sites to post articles that they write themselves or purchase from other writers for usage rights. Adding content to a Blog in the form of articles based on your business niche can bring in extra traffic and provide search engine optimization benefits for the main site being advertised through the blog. Back links are a very important part of internet marketing that your website could benefit from in the long run.

Top Ten Ways to Use Twitter for Marketing

Twitter is a micro-blogging site that asks you a basic question, "What are you doing?" It allows anyone with an account to write up to 140 characters in a text field as a means to update, comment, promote or communicate to others who are "following" you. When people follow you, they see what you've recently contributed when they login. They see your "tweets", which are the messages you leave.

And of course you can follow others who tweet about the things that interest you. As an Internet marketer you may want to follow other Internet marketers, for example.

Like anything, and this is especially true of working with social media, the more you give, the more you get. In other words, the more often you tweet the more activity you'll generate. Some suggest that you tweet a few times a day, every day. Not every tweet needs to be profound. But they should all be useful.

It's important that you don't abuse Twitter for marketing and promoting your products, services or affiliate links. Most of your tweets ought to be about offering your followers useful and valuable information. Only once in a while should you try to use Twitter to promote something. Otherwise you'll be perceived as a spammer, and no one wants that tag.

Imagine if you had a large number of people following your tweets? Some people have tens of thousands following them. If you had something to promote and you had a large following, you could quickly and efficiently alert a lot of people of your promo. It acts sort of like a mass emailíng blast to your house email list, but it's a heck of a lot easier and faster. This is the power of Twitter.

One thing that I've noticed with Twitter is that it can seem overwhelming at times. The sheer information on Twitter, the 'how-to's', tutorials and all the other ubiquitous advice on how to use and take advantage of it can seem hard to understand and implement. So here's an easy-to-understand list of the top ten ways in which you can use Twitter to market yourself, your business and your website.

The Top 10 Ways To Use Twitter for Marketing:

1. Use it to promote new pieces of content you or your company create to drive traffic to your site. From online articles to blog posts or from videos to webinars, each time you add something to the Web that is of value, tweet about it and include a link. (Most people on Twitter use www.TinyURL.com to take a long URL and make it short.)

2. Use it for learning new marketing ideas, strategies and techniques. If you follow the right people, and you have to be picky about who you follow, you'll get pointed to a good amount of useful tutorials, videos, e-zines and other things that teach you about marketing.

3. Use it to get new customers. Use Twitter's search to find people who may be interested in your product or service. There are many ingenious ways to search for people on Twitter. For example, if you sell red widgets you could go to http://search.twitter.com and find people who have tweeted specifically looking for red widgets. To do this, type the following into the search box: red widgets?

• You'll notice a lot of the results will be of others selling red widgets. These ones will all obviously have links in them to direct people to the site they're selling red widgets on. To weed these people/tweets out, use the negative sign like this: -http red widgets?

• Since every link has 'http' in it, using the negative sign in front of it will cause your search results to not include any tweets with links in them.

4. Use it to build your email list. Use Twitter's search to find people who may be interested in the monthly newsletter you send out to your house email list. Invite these people to join.

5. Utilize Twitter plugins or add-ons such as TweetMyBlog or The Twitter Updater, which both automatically make tweets of every new blog post you publish. Also check out TwitThis. When visitors to your website click on the TwitThis button or link, it takes the URL of the Web page and creates a shorter URL using TinyURL. Then visitors can send this shortened URL and a description of the web page to all of their followers on Twitter. Finally, look at TweetLater, a service that allows you to write lots of tweets at once and then schedule them to go out over time.

6. Use it to build buzz about an upcoming product or website launch.
[Forget Expensive PPC Advertising - There is an Alternative!]

7. Use it to better brand yourself or your business. Remember, when someone wants to learn more about you or your company, they are increasingly using sites like Twitter for research. You could easily use Twitter to establish yourself as an authority in your field.

8. Use it to update followers on breaking news regarding your company. If your company is mentioned in a new article, tweet about it and include a link to the article. Or if you're at a conference or trade show, you could tweet what you're doing and invite people to visit you in person.

9. Use it for business networking, master-mind groups (see Napoleon Hill), and getting yourself seen by high-profile people in your industry.

10. Use it as an instant messaging system to keep you and your team on the same page during projects. This is especially useful for those who work with teams spread out in different cities or countries.

You should note that this top 10 list is not in order of importance or in any particular order. I suggest that you give Twitter a try if you haven't already. See if you can apply a few of these techniques and tactics to help you take advantage of Twitter as a marketing tool.

And one more important thing to remember is that there is no silver bullet in marketing. You should always be trying and implementing numerous tactics when marketing your business. Don't only rely on Twitter or any other one thing. Instead, use Twitter (or any other Web 2.0 site) as simply one more tool in your entire social media and marketing toolbox.

4 Useful Tips To Start Your Blog Marketing

Congratulations your blog is live! Now you need to start marketing it so you'll build a group of followers and potential customers

How do you do this? How do you go about getting your blog out there to be seen and known by others? How do you draw readers and keep them coming back for more?

There are many ways to get your blog out there and known by others, this can be challenging for some and just quite easy for others, if you have ever had a successful blog before then you know what it takes.

You're not going to get anywhere by just setting up a blog and hoping that people will find it and read it, you're not going to gain any links, nor a higher search engine ranking by just having a blog.

This is just a part of the huge arena that is blog marketing, absolutely anyone can do it, even you.

Successful blog marketing tip number one.

When you first create a blog, of course it is unheard of, no one knows anything about the blog unless you give them the link and show it to them, However, for a new blog that has never been seen, there are many ways to get it out there and known.

You just need to know how. The first thing that you can do is to allow RSS feeds be taken from your blog. Let other bloggers and websites publish your content if they want to.

When you do this, they're giving you a link back to your blog, and also telling their readers all about your blog. You will get more traffic than ever with this tool. RSS feeds are wonderful for promoting and getting your blog out there.

Blog marketing tip number two.

Make sure you update your blog regularly, no there can't be enough emphasis on this tip, it really is worth it's weight in gold. If you tell your readers that you're going to update your blog daily, then do it.

If you tell them that you will be writing in your blog weekly, don't let them down. Your readers are what makes your blog successful. You may not get this at the start, you'll have few readers at the beginning, but you'll gradually build a readership and see other people checking out your blog.

Perhaps you not planning on telling your readers how often you'll post to your blog, that's OK just remember to post regularly. However, think about this, if you were reading a blog on a weekly basis, and you expected to see the blog that you like to read updated at least once a week, you would be very disappointed to find out that it wasn't.

Yes things happen and you might not always be able to post when you said you would, and that is fine let your readers know why (this builds rapport), but if you miss week after week you'll can hurt your credibility and lose readers.

Tip number three.

While you're working on your readership base, and trying to gain readers, you are going to find that commenting on blogs that are relevant to yours will surely help.

Find a blog on the same topic as your own, or perhaps a related topic and leave comments on them, you can also leave a track back to your blog postings so people will comment on your own blog.

Doing so will probably give someone else the urge to track back to your blog, which will be good for it as well.

Commenting on blogs that get many comments will make yours be seen by those interested in that market. You'll gain traffic and readers that way, and it is easy as well as free.

The fourth blog marketing tip.

Learn and apply SEO to your blogs, SEO is search engine optimization.

You're going to find that if you want your blog to go anywhere, you need SEO, and you need to know how to use it to the advantage of your blog.

So don't forget to make sure the search engines can find your blog.

10 Ways to Monetize Your Blog

This is 10 best way to monetize your blog, this article was republish from conversionrater.net. I think we must know it to make us easier to create good blog for online business.

Two reason to know about monetizing blog ;

First, I should preface this discussion by saying you first need to seriously evaluate whether you want to work at monetizing your blog. Steve Pavlina has a very thorough post that goes over what’s necessary to really do this well, and why the majority of people who try end up not generating significant income.

Second, you have to make sure that making money from your blog directly is your goal. For example, for this blog direct income isn’t my goal. I didn’t have ads at all untli recently, and the only reason I added them was to use the ad network management application I’ve been working on called RMX Direct. It’s quite possible that your blogging goals may just to network, write about something you’re interested in, or serve some business purpose that isn’t direct income generation.

With that out of the way, let’s get started:

1. Contextual Advertising

Surprise, surprise. Advertising is easily the most popular blog monetization tactic, mostly due to it being the easiest thing to implement. Advertising comes in many forms, and contextual advertising is the most popular due to Google Adsense and it’s general success with blogs and niche sites.

I’m going to assume everyone reading this is familiar with it, but I think it should be mentioned that too many bloggers assume that Adsense is the best solution for their blog. For some blogs and topics it works great, for others, not very well at all.

My advice is to not limit your blog to one ad network or just one form of advertising. Other contextual options include the Yahoo Publisher Network, Chitika, Clicksor, AdSonar, and others. It’s not easy to manually test all these though if you’re shuffling ad tags around and randomly allocating your impressions to them, using a ad network management tool like RMX Direct can help you manage, evaluate, and control your various ad networks.

2. Display Advertising

As I mentioned above, contextual networks aren’t always the best solution for blogs. In some cases there aren’t enough advertisers in niche topics, and in others the users just isn’t likely to click. In this case, you want to be working with ad networks that provide CPM display advertising. This means you get paid something for every ad viewed, opposed to only getting paid per click.

Just like with contextual networks, it’s important to use multiple display ad networks to get more variety from your ads, to not let any one network control your inventory, and to make sure you’re earning the most amount of money possible.

3. Targeted Advertising

The most desirable form of advertising is having companies that wish to pay good rates to advertise on your blog directly whether it’s text or image ads. Many bloggers feel that this is a pipe dream, but I speak from experience from running a wakeboarding blog for many years that you can make solid income from targeted advertising without having insane amounts of traffic.

There are a number of key things you have to do though in order to get this type of advertising:

  • Have a blog with leading content in your niche and a professional design
  • Create a “media kit” which is essentially a page on your blog that explains that you take targeted advertising, what your rates are, demographics of your users, your traffic levels, examples of the types of ads people can run, testimonials from any companies that have advertised with you, and a phone number and email address they can use to get more information.
  • Have obvious “Advertise On This Blog” links in key places on your blog.
  • Give a company or two in your niche free or very low-cost advertising in order to get the ball rolling. When advertisers see their competitors or companies similar to them advertising, they get the idea that it’s available. If all they ever see is Adsense ads, they might not realize it’s an option.
  • Be willing to be creative to help your advertisers achieve their goals, and lower your price to get the deals.
  • Provide statistics and results to your advertisers. Use an ad server like RMX Direct, phpAdsNew, or something similar which has the ability to create reports per advertiser.

Once you’ve set your blog up properly, start approaching companies in your niche who will want to reach your traffic. You don’t need to go after the biggest companies, there are many small companies who are looking to get better results from the web, and they might not even know about your blog.

You don’t need to be an ad sales professional, you just need to present your case well on why they’re missing out if they don’t advertise on your traffic. Make it easy on them to work with you, help them create ads, help them determine what sizes to use, and work with them to make sure they get the results they need. It seems like hard work at first, but after you get a solid base of advertisers going, it’s a great source of income and it starts to streamline.

4. Text Link Advertising

Another somewhat unobtrusive form of advertising is using services like Text Link Ads or Adbrite to sell text ads directly to companies. This is pretty low effort and often doesn’t take up too much space on a site, so it’s easy to implement and try out. It should be noted though that you need significant traffic for it to be a big source of income.

5. Affiliate Links

One of the older web monetization methods is still as good today as it’s always been. If you’ve got a blog in a specific area, there’s a very large chance that there are companies out there that sell products or services your users are interested in. You can earn some nice income recommending or linking to those products.

Amazon.com is probably the most common affiliate merchant used by bloggers, but I’d advise finding other unique merchants who may pay better and be more specific to your topic. Amazon is always there as an option, but you’re more likely to get more help from the merchant if you go with a smaller company.

Another nice thing about affiliate links is that they fit well with quality content. Reviewing products and services for your users is valuable content, and if you can make money off it as well it’s a great combination. A word of warning though that you shouldn’t change your reviews or be biased due to the fact you can make money off a referral.

While traffic also helps for affiliate links, it can sometimes be an easier way to generate income without high traffic levels like advertising requires. As an example I did a review of a web analytics application a couple of years ago, and this blog had very little traffic at that point. I referred two sales through that review though that still earn me $150 a month every month two years later.

6. Selling Your Content (Ebooks, Videos, DVDs)

If you’ve got great content, another option is to package it and sell it. There are numerous bloggers who have created ebooks and even real books based on their blog content and made great income selling them. You can also expand to infoproducts like videos, DVDs, audio CDs, and printed books on demand.

This can take some significant work and it requires great content to actually sell, but it can be a nice income stream that lasts a long time.

7. Consulting

Depending on your topic and your level of expertise, you can sell consulting services. If you’re a web analytics expert, you could offer web analytics consulting services on your blog for an hourly fee. This takes very little work to setup beyond creating a page outlining your services, getting a standard contract, and having a way to take payments from companies. Again though, it just takes a little bit of effort to let people know that consulting services are available.

8. Donations

Not quite as common as it once was, it used to be fairly common for bloggers to ask for donations on their blog through Paypal or some other service. This only works if you have a dedicated userbase, and a large enough number of users that their donations add up. I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re also putting a lot of advertising and other monetization methods on your blog. You’ll come off as a bit too greedy in that case.

9. Selling Products

Besides infoproducts, you can sell real products like t-shirts, bumper stickers, clothing, or whatever other kind of merchandise makes sense for your topic. Companies like Goodstorm, CafePress, Lulu, and others make it easy by creating the products based on your design and letting you set up a shop. There is no risk to bloggers, which makes it a great opportunity.

10. Selling Your Blog

Perhaps the most extreme of the blog monetization methods, but it can be lucrative! If you aren’t attached to your blog and are willing to part with it, you can usually find a buyer for it. Your blog must be pretty good, and have a level of traffic worth buying, and it really helps if you already have some income streams going for it. Blogs usually sell for 12-24 times monthly revenues, and there are numerous places you can sell them like eBay and the Sitepoint Marketplace.

Conclusion

It definitely takes some work to monetize your site well, and having good traffic really helps out. Work on building a blog with a solid userbase, and you should be on your way to generating income using any of the methods above. Good luck, and please share any blog monetization experiences you have in the comments.

7 Effortless Ways To Increase Blog Traffic

Blog marketing is a powerful way to promote your business and more importantly it is a great way to brand yourself. If you are reading this article it’s because you know this and looking for simple ways to increase traffic to your blog.

Here are 7 Effortless Ways To Increase Blog Traffic:

1. Blog Carnivals – a blog carnival is simply a post that contains entries from other blogs. Links from other sites that have similar content is a great way to bring in visitors, so submitting a content rich article with no sales pitches or affiliate links from your blog is a great way to get traffic.

I submit my posts to multiple carnivals at BlogCarnival.com. No payment is required and it is user-friendly. Also, it doesn’t matter whether you have a free or self-hosted blog. If it is a an entry containing quality content it should be accepted. Get into the habit of doing this once a week.

2. Bookmarking/Sharing – bookmarking is a way for Internet users to store, organize, search and manage websites they have bookmarked. Sharing these bookmarks with other people gives you exposure because others will share their bookmarks containing your content.

I use bookmarking and sharing sites such as del.icio.us, Digg, and Stumbleupon. There are many more and it is important you also provide links to these sites from your blog to make it easier for your readers to share your link to others. Get into the habit of sharing great content by others and some of those people will return the favor.

3. Don’t Be Shy – I know this is obvious but there is nothing better than word of mouth. Just be tactful about it. Let your colleagues, family and friends know about your blog. Ask them to do you the favor to let others know about it too.

Add the URL to your blog on business cards, flyers, and anything else you can think of. Please keep in mind your goal should be to receive targeted traffic so be upfront about the content. Not everyone is going to have an interest in what you are writing about so letting them know ahead of time will streamline your visitors into quality traffic.

4. Plug-Ins – depending on the blogging platform you are using plug-ins may be accessible and there are some which were created to help with traffic generation. You still have to make sure there is quality content and plenty of it but these plug-ins give you advantages that would take you a very long time to do on your own.

I self-host my blog using Worpdress and the availability of plug-ins are endless. Some of the free systems may offer some enhancements as well, but whichever you use just make sure they are coming from a credible source because some of these plug-ins could do more harm than good.

5. RSS Feeds – an RSS (real simple syndication) is used to publish frequently updated content, such as blog entries and other announcements. You should encourage people to subscribe to your RSS feed.

When people have access to your feed this gives them instant access to your latest entries and it gives you a great avenue to bring in consistent and returning traffic. To maintain that flow of traffic continue to provide quality content.

6. Social Networking – if you use Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or any of the hundreds of social networking sites offered today you must have realized how powerful these sites can be to your exposure. These platforms offer areas to add information about you, your business and interests.

Having access to such powerful sites gives you an edge many never had before and although they have had success in the past without them, I’m sure if they had access to these social networking sites back then it would have minimized their efforts and maximized their success much sooner.

7. Viral Marketing – these days it’s so easy to create your own audios, videos, podcasts, e-books and mini reports. What does this have to do with your blog marketing? Well, how about using one of these marketing platforms to promote your blog?

The key to viral marketing is getting people to pass your content along to others and have them pass it along to others, etc. Just imagine that happening multiple times over. You can use platforms available to submit audios, videos, etc., so others can pass your content to others freely without spending any money, if at all.

A Smart Trick for Attracting Higher Paying AdSense Ads

There are no guarantees in life, so I dont guarantee that following these tips will bring you more money every time. However, I do guarantee that they will greatly increase your chances of pulling more of the top-paying AdSense ads to your site than if you dont follow these suggestions.

Enough with the disclaimers, lets get down to the business of making money. Google lets advertisers bid anywhere from a minimum of .05 per click right up to a whopping $100. It should be pretty obvious that youre not going to get rich running .05 cent ads on your site, but getting a few $100 ads, or even some $10, $20, or $30 ads cant be a bad thing, right?

Now the problem is, Google is pretty closed-mouthed about who is paying what for their ads, and there is no real way to determine which words pay the most per AdSense click.

But ah, far away in a parallel universe we find another Pay-Per-Click provider called Overture. It seems that Overture is less sensitive about releasing their top-priced words and anyone who cares to find out what web sites are paying for words and phrases can do so by simply using Overtures tattle-tale special pricing tool (http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/). And it couldnt be easier to use. You simply type in a key word or phrase and the tool returns a list of advertisers using that word and how much they are paying. It even shows you the actual ad.

Oh what a treasure trove of wealth-grabbing results this can be if you know what can be done with that priceless information.

Consider this possibility

Any key word or phrase thats worth big bucks on Overture is probably worth big bucks on Google as well, maybe even more, right? So try this experiment:

Enter the phrase SEO Services without the quotes in the Overture tool (http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/). When I entered that phrase on the day I wrote this article, I was found a company called SEO Inc. that was willing to pay $8.01 per click, followed by SEO Advantage at $8.00, and Online Web Consultants at $6.50. Other bidders appeared below them in the $3.00 range straight on down to some who wouldnt pay more than a dime per click.

Now, if a company is willing to pay that much money for a click on Overture, it is probably willing to pay that or more on Google. Even if that particular company isnt advertising on Google, you can be pretty sure that the same key phrase is drawing near the same bid price from other companies who do advertise on Google. So what that means is there is no way that you can possibly afford NOT to have some web pages posted somewhere that are targeted to those sweet-paying words.

All you have to do is use Overtures pricing tool to find the highest-paying key words that are related to your site and then optimize those words to start pulling similar ads. If all goes to plan, you can perhaps double, triple, or even quadruple your AdSense revenue without needing any increase in traffic or click-through rate.

6 steps to Adsense Domination

When you make your living online, you realize the need for multiple streams of income.

One of the easiest and most lucrative ways to generate a secondary income, which also happens to be passive, is via Googles Adsense program.

Im sure youve read the claims of a few individuals generating five figure monthly incomes from Adsense. For many of you, Im sure you are wondering why you arent making this same income yourself.

Well, wonder no more. If you follow my simple six step system, you will be well on your way to healthy Adsense profits within three months.

Are you ready? Its now time to pay attention.

Step 1 Preparation.

The key to making money with Adsense is all about numbers. BIG numbers!

Sure, there are a few people making serious money with less than ten sites, but these are the exception.

Your goal will be twenty-four sites in three months. Thats just TWO sites per week!

In order to accomplish this, I recommend one of the many available page generation tools available today.

Step 2 Determine Your Markets.

In order to maximize Adsense income with only twenty-four sites, you must know which markets are paying well.

To break this down even further, you need to know which keywords within those markets are paying the most.

Step 3 Register you domains.

Once youve identified and chosen your markets, you must register domains appropriate to those markets. For example, if your market is Cabbage Patch Dolls, a domain such as http://www.cabbage-patch-doll.com/ would be appropriate.

Step 4 Create your site.

Using your favorite page generation software and keyword list, its time to develop your site. There are several key points to bear in mind when you develop these specifically for Adsense.

1. Format Always use the large 336x280 large rectangle.
2. Border Match the same color as your background.
3. Background color – Border Match the same color as your background.
4. Link = "0000CC"
5. Color_url = "999999"
6. Color_text = "333333"
7. Position Far left or center and just above the page fold (Top 25% of site)

Step 5 Verify and track your site

Visit your site and make sure all links work and that the sites appear to your satisfaction. You should also check out the ads Google is displaying. Are they targeted to your primary high paying keyword? If not, recreate your site using your high paying keyword in a higher density throughout your site.

Make sure you track your Adsense format, position, and traffic with a tracking system specifically designed for Adsense. Once you know your stats, you can adjust for maximum clickthroughs and higher revenues.

Step 6 Get your site listed in the search engines.

This is simple no tricks involved. Simply rent links to your site. A PR7 or PR8 link will do the job.

While Ive simplified the process here, you are now armed with enough information and resources to make some serious money with Adsense.

Why Blogs Are Better Than Websites

Blogs are now the most trusted media source for useful information according to a Blogads survey of over 35,000 readers. Value was compared against newspaper, radio, television, direct mail and magazines. It is estimated that in the US 27% of the people read blogs on a regular basis.

Blog marketing increases exposure, generates buzz, and creates a global message to which individual customers can respond. Blog marketing is also a powerful search engine optimization tool which can be used to dramatically improve website rankings.

Why Blogs Are Better Than Websites ?

1. Blogs are active and websites are passive. Blogs broadcast their content out to the web via RSS every time there is something new. Websites on the other hand wait to be discovered by search engine spiders. It’s like the difference between fishing and hunting. You can sit and wait for fish or you can actively hunt and pursue.

2. Blogs are faster. Posting and syndication is almost instantaneous. Technorati and other blog search engines index and list your postings within minutes after you publish.

3. Blogs build a readership. It is easy for visitors to subscribe to a blog so they can view new postings as soon as they happen. Blogs encourage repeat visits with content being delivered to your favorite reader or delivery by email. Compare this to bookmarking a website which depends on the visitor to come back.

4. Blogs have newer fresher content. By their nature, blogs have regular fresh content and they are more up to date. Blogs tend to deal with breaking events and technology insights.

5. Blogs invite participation and interaction. Blog conversations are encouraged providing multiple viewpoints and discussions. Comments can be made easily from each page.

6. Blogs are powerful influencers. “More than half (52%) of Europeans polled said that they were more likely to purchase a product if they had read positive comments from private individuals on the internet.” This is according to a Hotwire Ipsos MORI survey.

Why Blog?

Combining business blog marketing and traditional website marketing is especially effective when you start up a new business. Blogging is one of the fastest ways of announcing your business and spreading the word quickly about what you do.

New companies should look at launching a blog and a website for maximum exposure. A combined approach using a website and a blog is usually the fastest approach. You will that you will gain a much broader reach by using both a website and blog. The website and blog will have different functions.

The website is the advertising and marketing piece. The new website should be the marketing focus that touts the advantages, benefits and conveniences of using your business. The new website should bring in traffic with both pay-per-click advertising and organic SEO.

The website and blog will reach different audiences, have different focuses, have different conversational tones, but still strive to reach the same targeted customer. The blog and website reinforce each other and magnify the results.

Affiliate Marketing vs. Google Adsense: Let the Battle Begin

Lately there has been a lot of discussion on how to make tons of money with Google Adsense. In fact, many people are making the claim that Adsense sites can earn a higher revenue then an affiliate-marketing site.

So that brings us to an important question: Which is a better online business – Affiliate-Marketing sites or Google Adsense sites?

Let's explore each one and then find out which online business is better option:

Google Adsense

How do you like the idea of earning m*ney without dealing with customers or answering emails. This is possible when you run a Google Adsense site. With Adsense sites, you can have a virtual passive-income that requires little maintaining. But is this the best option for an online business?

Here are the positives of Google Adsense sites:

They are perfect for people who run information sites that have no related affiliate product
You can set it and leave it. With Google Adsense, you can create a content page, and there is little need to update the content.

Adsense sites are easy to scale. Since they require little upkeep, you can easily create multiple websites that each make a nice income.

Here are the negatives of Google Adsense sites:

They are not a great long term solution. Instead of getting your visitors to subscribe to a mailing list, you are focusing on getting people to click on ads. Real online businesses concentrate on building assets that can use for long-term growth.

These sites are dependent on search engines. Most Google Adsense sites make the mistake of depending on search engines for the majority of their traffic. If the SE algorithms change then your income might drop significantly.

Affiliate Marketing

Being an affiliate marketer is great for those who want build a theme site. With this type of business, you can easily create web pages around a topic and get people to buy products through your products. If done correctly, you can easily build a loyal following that will help you make money for years to come.

But can affiliate marketing make you more money then Google Adsense?

Here are the positives of affiliate marketing:

A great advantage of affiliate-marketing is that you can build a long term business that will bring in a revenue stream for years.

With affiliate-marketers you need to focus on building an email list. This list is a major asset of your business. Every time you have an offer, you can go to your list and increase your profits..

Unlike Google Adsense sites, which only concentrates on high paying keywords, an affiliate marketing site can be centered on a topic that you have an interest in.

Here are the negatives of affiliate marketing:

You have to learn how to write persuasively and get people to purchase the product that you are recommending. For many people this is a difficult skill to learn.

Each affiliate marketing site requires a lot of effort. You must spend a lot of time writing product reviews, building your email list and creating web content.

So which is better: Affiliate marketing or Google Adsense?

The answer is that both are great solutions for an online business. Instead of choosing one over the other, you should create websites that can take advantage of both.

Here is how you can do this:
  1. Create a content site on a topic that you are interest in, while paying a good amount per Adsense click.
  2. Integrate your Adsense into the menu bars and the top of your web content.
  3. Add web pages for affiliate-products and your opt-in email list. But, make sure that you leave out the Adsense blocks on these pages. This way you are ensuring that you are building your long-term assets.
  4. Create optimized web page articles that focus on a specific keyword phrase. Place your Google Adsense in these blocks.
  5. Provide your email list with good content and product recommendations. Once in awhile, email your list and provide a link to some of your web articles. That way, you can earn a little bit of m*ney from your subscribers while giving them good content.
By focusing on both affiliate products and Google Adsense, you will be building both short-term and long-term profits.

Small Business Blog Marketing - 5 Essential Tips

If you own a small business, chances are that you are most likely very familiar with the "feast or famine" cycle of small business, where there's either too much work going on for you to manage it successfully, or not enough business coming in through the door.

If your business seems to be affected by the "feast or famine" cycle, then I want to show you a smart, simple, easy, quick and inexpensive way to start alleviating this condition.

It's called blogging.

Basically, you start a business blog, then write about your business and publish the information online through your blog.

Let me explain why this is a very smart thing to do, and how it can help you ride the ups and downs of small business economic cycles.

First of all, starting a business blog is simpler, quicker, cheaper and easier to do than setting up a small business web site. In a moment, I'll share with you some valuable business blogging tips you will want to know about when starting your own business blog.

Secondly, by adding regular content to your blog that educates people about the benefits of your business, products and services, you will not only create more trust and authority with potential customers online when they visit your blog, but you will also increase visibility and exposure for your business in your particular market sector.

So ... how will this help you successfully manage the "feast or famine" cycles that most small business owners experience?

Well, in times of "feast", you can simply refer people to relevant posts you have made on your blog that provide them with the information they are looking for. Every business owner is familiar with the sometimes frustrating experience of having their valuable time taken up with the same explanations of how, why, what, when and where certain aspects of their business are done.

Rather than spend 30-45 minutes or more reiterating the same thing over and over again to luke-warm prospects, why not write an article about it and post it to your blog? Then, the next time someone calls you and asks you to explain this very same thing, rather than waste an hour of your or your staff's time, just ask them for their email address and send them a link to your blog page where you have posted this information.

Your prospect can then research the subject in their own time and call you back when they are ready to move to the next step.

Now ... if, in your blog you have set up a way for people to opt-in to a database (e.g. a newsletter subscription form, or special report), then you have already taken a vital step towards ensuring that your business can survive in times of famine. When work slows down, you can contact your list subscribers with a special offer, or information about products or services they may want to consider buying from you.

By integrating small business blog marketing into your regular business activities, you will be providing genuine service to those you cannot service immediately, as well as creating a prospecting pipeline for leaner times.

Five Essential Small Business Blog Marketing Tips

Small Business Blog Marketing Tip #1 - Host Your Business Blog On Your Own Domain

Although many small businesses set up their business blog on blogging platforms that offer free hosting, this can be a costly mistake in the long run. It also indicates that the business owner is not aware of what a valuable business asset a business blog can be.

By setting up a blog on your own domain name, you are ensuring that all traffic, content and links pointing back to your content pages are growing the value of your web property and not someone else's, and also that they won't suddenly disappear if, for, example, you decide to take your business to the next level and change blogging platforms or switch hosting providers.

Small Business Blog Marketing Tip #2 - Set Up Your Business Blog Using A WordPress Blog

WordPress provides an ideal business blogging platform (hosted on your own domain name, of course). Wordpress is free, and supports an active community of plugin developers and professional designers who have created thousands of plugins that can add incredible functionality and powerful flexibility to your blog, as well as thousands of professional themes you can use to completely change the look and feel of your business blog. Best of all, most WordPress themes and plugins can be downloaded at no cost, and customized for your own business use in many instances.

Small Business Blog Marketing Tip #3 - Automate Your Business Blog Marketing SEO And Search Engine Indexing Functions

Although a WordPress blog is quite easy to install and set up, the default installation is very basic and lacks most of the functionality you need to ensure that your content is automatically optimized for ranking better than your competition in the search engines, as well as getting quickly indexed and added to the search results of all the major search engines and blog directories.

This is by no means a "negative", as WordPress allows you to quickly add all of this functionality by simply installing and activating certain plugins. All you need to do is spend a little time learning which plugins work best together to deliver this important automation to your blog.

Small Business Blog Marketing Tip #4 - Add New Content Regularly To Your Business Blog

Every small business owner I have ever met carries an amazing amount of information in their brains about their business, their industry, expert tips on buying, installing and using their products and services, benefits and features, comparison data on competitor products and services, etc ...

In fact, there is no shortage of information to provide potential new customers with. Many small business owners, however, don't fully understand how much leverage they can generate for their business by turning this information into short informative articles, announcements, interesting posts, news releases, answers to faqs, etc ... that can attract the attention of people searching online for specific solutions that you can help deliver, educate and engage prospective customers, and funnel visitors into a process that delivers not only great value and service every step of the way, but that can ultimately lead to new customers and new sales of your products and services.

Having a simple plan to add 2-3 articles per week to your business blog can lead to amazing results. As I have just stated, there is no shortage of information when it comes to coming up with ideas to write about your business. If you commit to investing as little as 20 - 30 minutes a day to business blog marketing activities, you can transform your business quite rapidly.

Divide your business blogging time as follows:

- Spend 40% of your time researching topics to write about. Start an ideas file and add to it every day - even just the title of a blog post will do.
- Spend 40% of your time writing your article. Open up a simple notepad text file and just write on a topic the same way as you would if you were explaining something to a prospect one-on-one. Keep the style conversational, use your own voice and don't worry about editing anything until you finish writing at least 500 - 700 words (4-5 short paragraphs)
- Spend 20% of your time editing and proofing what you have written, then publish it. You can always easily edit your post later if you need to add, modify or delete sections of your post.

Using the above business blogging time schedule, if you invest just twenty minutes a day, five days a week into publishing a business blog, you will spend a total of 40 minutes researching (e.g. reading other blogs for topics and ideas), 40 minutes writing your post(s), and 20 minutes editing and proofing your article.

This is enough time to add one or three new posts every week or so, and start growing your business online. Keep this commitment for one whole month to get the blogging habit and do this for three months before evaluating your performance and your results. I guarantee you will be more than pleasantly surprised!

Small Business Blog Marketing Tip #5 - Use Your Business Blog Performance Data To Improve Your Business Results

As a small business blog marketer, your goal is to deliver content that will attract new visitors to your site, engage and build trust with your readers, and then direct them to areas of your site where they can either get more information about the benefits of using your products and services, contact you for the next step, or place an order once they have made a decision to buy.

Setting up a simple information system that tracks where visitors to your blog are coming from, what keywords and phrases they are typing into search engines and other sites to find you, how long they stay on your blog when they visit and which pages they visit the most when they are browsing through your blog can all provide valuable information that you can then use to improve your business, deliver better customer service ... even uncover a demand for new products and services.

I hope you have found this information useful and I wish you great business blogging success.

10 Tips For Creating a Brilliant Landing Page

Building a great landing page should be on top of your priority list if you want your website visitors transformed into customers.

While a great looking website can grab the attention of your visitors, a strong landing page will keep them involved and get them to buy your products/services.

Wikipedia defines a landing page as:

The page that appears when a potential customer clicks on an advertisement or a search-engine result link. The page will usually display content that is a logical extension of the advertisement or link, and that is optimized to feature specific keywords or phrases for indexing by search engines.

Wikipedia's definition sums it up nicely but there is certainly more to a great landing page then relevant and keyword rich content. Here are 10 things that you should be looking at when optimizing a landing page:

- Relevant Content

A landing page's content should be directly related to organic search results, PPC campaign, anchor text in inbound links and any other targeted inbound advertising, online and offline. If people don't get what they expect, they will be more likely to leave.

- Multiple Landing Pages

A landing page shouldn't necessarily be your homepage. In many instances a homepage is a good landing page. However, for more targeted traffíc and better results, you want a landing page to be focused on a specific offering and specific call for action. To accomplish this, a given website should have multiple landing pages. Create some deep link landing pages that will focus on a specific proposition and your conversion rate will be higher.

- Focus on Functionality

More and more visitors seem to judge the professionalism and credibility of a site by its design. To satisfy this, many website owners concentrate on the design aspect instead of focusing on its functionality. A well-designed landing page is essentially worthless if the prospect can't accomplish anything. While I wouldn't suggest skimping on the design, it shouldn't be your priority. Focus on the exact steps you want your visitor to take and design a page with that in mind.

- Call To Action

You got visitors to your landing page, now direct them to take action. Make it clear and highly noticeable without overwhelming your audience. Whether it's a sign-up form or a "buy now" button, make it the focus of your page.

- Send a Clear Message

Keep your landing page clean and clutter free so your visitors stay focused on your message. Emphasize the biggest reasons that they should carry out the applicable call to action with larger text, contrasting colors, images. Make it easier for them to scan the content by using lists and getting right to the point.

- Provide Incentive

Bribing your visitors with freebies and samples is a proven method of enticing them to sign up. Provide more than your competition but don't sell yourself short either. Provide a list of reasons why your offering is better and what exactly the visitor can expect. Provide references and testimonials.

- Make Visitors Stay

Avoid sending your visitors to another page unless it is absolutely necessary. That includes any internal navigation as well as external banners. If you eliminate all distractions and limit navigation options, you stand a better chance of keeping your visitors around.

- Simple is Better

Make it easy for your visitors to complete the action you want them to. Less confusion and decision making for your visitor means better conversions rate for your landing page. Don't provide multiple choices and throw in optional extras. Focus on the pitch the page was created for.

- Power of Freebies

Everyone likes free offers. They are hard to resist and can be a powerful conversion tool. Whether a call to action is free or something free is receíved as a result of carrying out a call to action, it certainly doesn't hurt. If your competition charges for something and you provide it for free, you'll win the customer. Remember, just because you make a free offer doesn't mean that it shouldn't be quality.
Want to Sell Advertising on Your Website? Learn From the Experts!

- Testing

In a recent post "How to Turn Website Visitors into Buyers" (by joanna Colek), I've stressed how important testing is in finding out what your visitors like. Testing various text, call to action forms, layouts will give you a true idea what produces the best results as far as conversion.

Using a tool like Google's Website Optimizer you can easily monitor the conversion rate, bounce rate, and tons of other useful metrics found in most modern day web analytics apps. Using these metrics you can easily figure out which version will be your optimal page, one that maximizes the results.

Creating a successful and effective landing page takes a lot of work but should be the focus for anyone involved with a website. Whether you are a website owner, web designer, web developer or a web marketing specialist you must be aware of the components that comprise a solid landing page. After all this can mean a website's success or failure.

How to Market Your Business on a Tight Budget

I'm sure every marketer has asked this question at one time or another. There are many creative ways to make your presence visible without spending a penny. Following are tips on how to market your business on a tight budget. No need to lose your shirt on costly ads.

Social Media Make your presence known on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in etc. You can meet people by joining groups related to your industry. Interact and build relationships with people that may be interested in your product or service. Bring value by posting helpful tips and offering free bonuses. Social media is a great way to get free publicity and build your customer base.

Article Marketing Write articles offering tips in your field of expertise. If you are stuck on ideas, ask yourself what the ten most frequently asked questions in your business are. Answer each question in an article and you have ten articles. Post them on free sites like Amazines.com, GoArticles.com and Ezinearticles.com. Send your readers to your website or landing page for further information. Post your articles to your social media sites.

Videos Another great way how to market your business on a tight budget is to create videos and post them on YouTube and other video sites. A great time saving tip is to create videos using the same topics as your articles. Post your videos to your social medial sites.

Affiliate Programs There are an endless number of businesses that offer affiliate programs. Basically they pay you to promote their product on your website, via e-mail, etc. These businesses will pay you for clicks, leads or sales. Research programs that relate to your industry and offer generous commissions. Find a hot product, post to your sites and use these commissions to fund your paid advertising!

Blogging Create a blog and direct people from your social media sites to it. Here they'll get to know more about you and learn more about what you offer. This is where you can also place your articles, videos, specials, affiliate links, etc. and enter daily blog posts.

E-mail Use an autorepsonder e-mail service to capture your customers contact information. I recommend Aweber and it only costs about $20/mo. but is well worth it. Send broadcast e-mails to your list, such as helpful tips, your blog posts, articles, videos, special offers and promotions, etc.

Although more time consuming than paid advertising, this system can move your business to the next level. Any of these advertising methods on their own are great but combined are a powerful. This is how to market your business on a tight budget without breaking the bank.

34 marketing tips and ideas

This is a great article was i found for blog marketing tips, a nice posting by jim's marketing blog. I think so nice republish it here. Read and you will get more advantage for your business.

I think that the title of this post says it all - so let’s get straight to the first marketing tip!

Marketing tip number 1:
When you send a marketing email to someone on a ‘list’ you bought or hired, they do not know who you are. Therefore, they are highly likely to consider your message as ‘spammy‘. Not only are they very unlikely to buy from you, they might start Twittering or telling their FaceBook / LinkedIn contacts that your company just spammed them!

Marketing tip number 2:
Learn to identify the difference between marketing activities you can do, and those you can do effectively. Anyone “can” write a marketing letter or email, but a specialist copywriter can get (literally) thousands of percent better response rates than a keen amateur.

Marketing tip number 3:
If you want your business to benefit from word of mouth publicity, it’s essential to give people something worth talking about!

Marketing tip number 4:
Give your clients a call from time to time, just to see how they are. Don’t even think of trying to sell them something, just engage them as a fellow human being.

Marketing tip number 5:
Become famous within your industry for how well you look after your customers. This kind of reputation is gold dust. Offering the best customer service means you will retain your existing clients for longer and find it far easier to win new customers too.

Marketing tip number 6:
Review your current marketing activities and immediately stop anything that is not working. Most small business owners have 2 or 3 forms of marketing, which they stick with primarily because they are “comfortable” with them.

Marketing tip number 7:
The most successful businesses don’t wait until things ‘slow down’ before they focus on marketing. Marketing is an ongoing function within all successful businesses.

Marketing tip number 8:
When was the last time your accountant or bank manager recommended a new client or customer to you? If it’s been a while, meet with them and ask them why. These people have “credible access” to thousands of contacts and could be a great source of new customers.

Marketing tip number 9:
Look outside your industry for marketing ideas and inspiration. When you simply replicate the marketing activities of your competitors, it’s harder and more expensive for your message to be seen / heard / read.

Marketing tip number 10:
Using a genuine, handwritten signature on your marketing letters can increase your positive response rates significantly. Though this can only realistically be used on smaller mailings, it is worth the extra effort.

Marketing tip number 11:
Invest in a book, audio program or training course, on how to handle inbound ‘phone calls more effectively. Even if it only improved your effectiveness by 15 or 20 percent, you could see a real increase in new business over the coming 6 months.

Marketing tip number 12:
Turn your website into a lead generating machine in two EASY steps. Firstly, get the site Search Engine Optimised, so stacks of targeted prospective clients can find you. Secondly, get your website copy written by an expert, so the people who find you are motivated to call you, visit your premises or email you. This is an extremely powerful and cost effective way to generate targeted business and enquiries.

Marketing tip number 13:
Keep copies of any marketing material, which motivated you to buy something or register for something. Then, see what you can learn and apply into your business.

Marketing tip number 14:
Your best ideas can come at any time, so make sure it’s always easy for you to capture them. I recommend you carry a small digital audio recorder. They cost very little and are a lot easier to use than a notepad; especially if you are out for a run at the time!

Marketing tip number 15:
Always look for ways to increase the value of your services. The more value you offer, the easier it is to win new clients and the harder it is for someone to tempt them away!

Marketing tip number 16:
Who is the most successful company or person in your industry right now? Find out and then see what you can learn from their success. A quick study of the least successful people in your industry can be equally valuable, by showing you what to avoid!

Marketing tip number 17:
Make sure your full contact details are visible on every email you send.

Marketing tip number 18:
Can you give at least one really good reason why someone should use your services, rather than any of your competitors? If not, it’s time to add a uniquely valuable dimension to your service. It’s easier, less expensive and the results come faster – when you market a uniquely valuable service, as opposed to an ‘average’ one.

Marketing tip number 19:
Before you take marketing advice from anyone, especially online, check out their background first. Much of the free marketing advice on the Internet is so poor that it could seriously damage a business.

Marketing tip number 20:
Testimonials can be extremely effective, but only if used correctly. Make sure that the testimonials you use in your marketing, are from people your prospective clients can identify with and that they compliment different elements of your services.

Marketing tip number 21:
What do prospective clients see, when they search for your name or your organisations name on Google? Over 95% of people now check a potential supplier out on a search engine, before deciding to use them or not.

Marketing tip number 22:
When writing a marketing message, focus it 100% on your most preferred prospective client type. Unfocused marketing messages do not compel, motivate or inspire people to respond. By trying to appeal to too wide a group of people, you fail to be directly relevant to anyone. Focus, focus, focus!

Marketing tip number 23:
Avoid using address labels on mail shots - it’s what many junk mail senders use. You will get a better response rate if you use window envelopes, with the name and address printed onto the letter; because more people will actually open the envelope.

Marketing tip number 24:
Never moan to your contacts about how bad business is, even when things are quiet. Bad news spreads fast and people avoid doing business with (and recommending) what they think might be a “sinking ship.”

Marketing tip number 25:
Avoid the use of buzzwords in your marketing or negotiations whenever possible.

Marketing tip number 26:
Other then your direct competitors, who already has a great relationship with your prospective clients? Their endorsement of you and your services is gold dust. Now, think of how to motivate them, so that they want to share how brilliant you are with their network. The results can be amazing.

Marketing tip number 27:
People hate being pestered or pursued. If you want to attract business, stop chasing it!

Marketing tip number 28:
I have never paid a penny for advertising, however, in the past 14 days, 3 of the best known companies in the world have asked me for marketing help or advice. This is purely because of my reputation and my online presence. What are you doing, to attract enquiries for free?

Marketing tip number 29:
Start a blog and post new material to it whenever you have something valuable you want to share. Blogs are either free or inexpensive, yet they can be excellent for developing your reputation as an expert and for communicating with people.

Marketing tip number 30:
Does your website have a contact form that people can use to get in touch? If so, make it as easy as possible for people to use, by asking for as little information as possible. Name & email address should be enough for someone to make an enquiry. Asking for their company name, phone, location etc just puts people off!

Marketing tip number 31:
Let your personality come through your business. People find it easier to connect with a business when it has a personality – than when a business feels cold or impersonal.

Marketing tip number 32:
When building your business network, size is far, far less important than quality. Don’t waste your time ‘connecting’ with people, who lack influence or reach. A network of 10, extremely well connected, influential people is USUALLY more than you will ever need! BTW: You won’t meet these people at a typical networking ‘club.’

Marketing tip number 33:
It’s far easier to sell something to an existing client than it is to sell something to a stranger. Find 3 new services, which are profitable for you to provide and which your clients really need – then offer them to your clients. This is probably the fastest way for you to generate a huge increase in turnover and profits.
